Ancient Theater
Welcoming visitors to Side with all its glory after entering through the monumental gate, the theater is located in the city center and at the narrowest point of the peninsula. The theater is among the biggest theaters in Anatolia, not Pamfilya. Another feature that distinguishes Side Theater from other theaters is that it is not placed on the slope, and it is 20m outside, consisting of various spaces and corridors covered with vaulted arches. It is located on an infrastructure surrounded by a two-storey gallery. It was built in the middle of the 2nd century AD. However, during the excavations, traces of the earlier period of the theater were found. The theater, which has been used for centuries, is 1.50m on the stone base and the lowest seating rows that turn the orchestra square in the 2nd century AD. A wall made of spoiled cut stones was created at a height, which shows us that the theater was used as an arena during this period. In the M.S.IV.yy., The city building was used as a city wall by dividing it into two by the city wall. It was used as an open-air church during the time of the last welfare era, as the Diocese of Side in M.S.V.-VI.
